Rising high school seniors are eligible to participate in MAP and must first be recommended by their school counselor via the MAP Counselor Recommendation Form.
MAP is a program sponsored by the University of Maryland (UMD) to help selected first-generation college students from Baltimore City and Baltimore County public schools navigate the complex world of college admission. Over a series of sessions during the fall semester, selected students will receive sustained assistance through staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and current UMD students to take their first steps toward a college degree. MAP provides participants, known as Ascent Fellows, educational, motivational, and practical tools modeled after those used by private college counselors.
Ascent Fellows have access to workshops and resources provided by UMD's Offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Financial Aid. Participation in all workshops is mandatory to be an Ascent Fellow and access all of the benefits of the program.
To apply to the Maryland Ascent Program, please complete the MAP Application and return the application to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in one of the following ways:
