Daily Visits

We've created a variety of options for you to visit UMD. Choose the one that best fits your needs or try them all!

Grab your phone and your walking shoes and prepare to see the iconic sights of the University of Maryland! Our self-guided walking tour is a great way to tour campus when our information sessions and student led tours are not available.

All campus visitors must follow UMD's 4Maryland protocols.

Here's your chance to learn about UMD and our application process from an admission representative, followed by a student-led campus walking tour! This session is geared toward high school and transfer students. Registration is required. Maryland Information Session & Tours will resume in February 2023.

Let our students be your guide for a comprehensive walking tour of UMD's beautiful campus! This is a great opportunity to hear directly from current students about their experiences at UMD and get your questions answered. Terrapin Tours are geared toward high school and transfer students. Registration is required. Terrapin Tours will resume in February 2023.

Please note, Terrapin Tours only include a student-led tour. If you are hoping to learn more about UMD from an admission representative, register for one of our Maryland Information Session & Tours. You can also visit the Mitchell building during your visit to speak with our staff.

If you are interested in bringing a group of 10 or more people to campus, explore the different types of group tours available. Depending on the audience of your group, you may need to make arrangements with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Visitor Center, or Conference & Visitor Services. Group tours hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will resume in February 2023.

For special accommodations or services for deaf or hearing-impaired visitors, please email us directly at visit@umd.edu using the subject line "Special Accommodations".

You can only learn so much about a school from a brochure. Even if we tell you how beautiful our campus is, or how fantastic our students and faculty are, you will not know for yourself until you experience it for yourself!

Come try on our campus for size! Stop by one of our top-notch athletic facilities. Have a scoop of homemade ice cream at the Dairy. Rub the nose of one of our beloved Testudo statues for good luck. Get all your questions answered. It won't be hard to picture yourself at home here for the next four years.

Finance

Consistently ranked as one of the best values in public higher education, you can rest assured that you will receive an affordable world-class education.

College is a major investment for you and your family. The university is here to help. We offer an array of financial aid programs—including scholarships, grants, loans and student employment—as part of our commitment to making an excellent education affordable.

ESTIMATED COST OF ATTENDANCE:

State of Maryland Residents   Non-Maryland Residents

The University of Maryland has launched a new investment in need-based financial aid, the Terrapin Commitment program, which will provide up to $20 million annually for students from the state of Maryland.

The goal of the Terrapin Commitment program is to reduce the gap between a student’s total financial aid package and the cost of an education. The program will begin in January 2023 and ensures that tuition and fees are fully covered for Pell eligible, in-state students, who are enrolled full time and have unmet financial need. More details can be found on the Office of Student Financial Aid's website.
