If you are admitted to UMD and hold or intend to seek an F-1 Student or J-1 Exchange Visitor visa, you must provide proof of available financial resources to cover one year’s worth of expenses (tuition, fees, books, insurance and living expenses). A current official bank statement from your sponsor that clearly indicates the name of the account holder and sufficient funds to cover expenses must be provided. We do not need this documentation until after you are offered admission to UMD and you have confirmed your enrollment. If you have a sponsor, a signed letter of support in English is required along with the sponsor’s proof of finances. If you have dependent(s), please show additional financial support of $4,500 USD for each dependent.
