Spring Events Guest Guidance

The University of Maryland (UMD) is actively monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19. With safety as a priority, and based on guidance from health and state officials, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions has made changes to our Spring 2020 visit offerings.

As we were looking forward to meeting you this spring, we understand your possible disappointment about canceled visit opportunities. However, the health and safety of our students, faculty, visitors and staff remain paramount. The state of Maryland is currently operating under a state of emergency due to COVID-19 and we want to ensure that we don't host an event that could potentially subject our registered guests and campus community to increased risk of exposure.

Beginning March 18, 2020, UMD will move to an online environment. We remain open and are available to answer any questions you may have. You can reach us via email at or call 301.314.TERP (8377) during our regular business hours.

  • All Maryland Information Sessions, Terrapin Tours, Terp For A Day and Group Visits are canceled until further notice. Alternatively, we encourage prospective students and their families to get familiar with campus through our virtual visit. To learn more about the admission process, please review our application FAQs
  • The Admitted Student Open Houses scheduled on Friday, April 3 and Friday, April 10 have been canceled. Online resources for newly admitted students will be available in early April. In the meantime, please review the admitted student checklists and admission decision FAQs. We also encourage students to explore campus through our virtual visit
  • The EDGE programs scheduled on Thursday, April 2 and Thursday, April 9 have been canceled. Students who registered can continue to learn about UMD by reviewing the admitted student checklists and admission decision FAQs. We also encourage students to explore campus through our virtual visit
  • A majority of out-of-state events and visits, including Terp Bound and some high school visits and college fairs are canceled through April 6. We will continue to assess state-issued travel precautions for visits beyond this date. Students are encourage to contact their area admission representative by emailing and including the representative's name in the subject line.
