Banneker/Key Scholarship

The most prestigious merit scholarship at the University of Maryland.

The Banneker/Key Scholarship is offered to a select group of applicants who have demonstrated significant academic leadership and accomplishment in high school. Only the top two percent of all applicants are identified for this scholarship.

Admitted freshmen who completed their University of Maryland (UMD) application by the priority deadline and have been invited to the Honors College are considered for the Scholarship. The Banneker/Key Scholarship Selection Committee members carefully review the entire application of each nominee. Semifinalists are invited to campus for an interview as part of the final selection process. Each fall, we welcome roughly 150 new Banneker/Key Scholars to campus. Scholarship interviews are by invitation only and semifinalists are notified of their selection via mail by early February.

Please RSVP by 5:00 p.m. on February 19, 2019. After selecting the button below, log in with your MyCoalition credentials, proceed to the University of Maryland section on the Colleges list and select Checklist.
